Avaya alternative

Bank grade telephony, without the support cliff

Avaya runs the contact center in a great many banks, and for two decades that was the conservative choice nobody was fired for making. Then on 1 January 2026 Avaya Aura Platform 10.1, Call Center Elite included, stopped receiving manufacturer support, and the G430 and G450 gateways underneath it stopped receiving firmware and security updates on the same day. The successor release, Aura 10.3, was announced on 4 August 2026 with general availability set for 28 September. klink.cloud is $99 a month for the whole team, running in your own cloud or your own data center, with no gateway to patch.

What Avaya has already announced about the estate you are running

There is no savings calculator on this page, because Avaya publishes no price for the contact center and inventing one would not survive a procurement review. What Avaya does publish, precisely and in writing, is the support calendar. For a regulated institution that is the number that matters.

klink.cloud Growth$99 a month, unlimited agents

Read this as a treadmill rather than an abandonment. Avaya has not dropped anybody: Aura 10.2 is supported, Release 10 can still be ordered, and 10.3 is weeks away. The point for a bank is that staying patched on this platform means a release upgrade project with a security deadline attached, repeated every few years, and that each one reaches the gateways in the branch as well as the servers in the data center. The gateway notice was last revised on 13 April 2026 and the list of hardware vintages that still receive firmware is a short one: G430 vintage 3 and G450 vintage 4, on Aura 10.2 only. On the klink.cloud side the $99 Growth plan carries unlimited agents with the contact center, the telephony and Kai inside it, and there is nothing to patch because there is no hardware.

Dates read on 26 August 2026 and quoted as published. Aura 10.1 carries no end of sale date: Avaya states that Release 10 continues to be an available offer, so this is the end of support for a release a bank can still buy today.

Vendor risk

The other half of what a credit committee is approving

A bank runs due diligence on the supplier as well as the software, and Avaya has been through two restructurings in six years. These are their own announcements, not analyst commentary.

The 2023 restructuring cut total debt by more than 75 per cent, and the new money came from an investor group led by Apollo Global Management and Brigade Capital Management. None of this makes Avaya a bad platform, and a bank that has run Call Center Elite for fifteen years knows exactly what it bought. It is context for the paper that goes to the board when the next upgrade lands: what are we committing to, over what term, and with whom. Two restructurings and no published price are facts rather than opinions, and a committee will find them anyway.

What a bank in an emerging market actually needs

Avaya did not become the default in banking by accident, and the telephony is genuinely excellent. The question is how much of what you maintain is answering a customer, and how much is keeping the platform alive.

Switching questions

What actually stopped on 1 January 2026?

Manufacturer support for Avaya Aura Platform 10.1. Avaya lists the impacted products by name: System Manager, Session Manager, Communication Manager, Application Enablement Services, Call Center Elite, Branch Gateways, Media Server, Session Border Controller for Enterprise, Device Services, Standalone WebLM and Web Gateway, all at 10.1.x. Their notice states that security updates, bug fixes and patch support are not available on 10.1.x after 31 December 2025. Separately, the G430 and G450 gateways in vintages 1 to 3 stopped receiving firmware and security updates on the same date when running Aura 10.1 or earlier, and stop on 30 June 2026 on Aura 10.2.

We are on Call Center Elite and it works. Do we have to move?

No, and anyone telling you to rip out a working contact center in a quarter is selling something. Aura 10.2 is supported and 10.3 is generally available on 28 September 2026, so there is a path that stays on Avaya. The question worth asking is what the next ten years of that path costs: an upgrade project every few years, each one touching the gateways in the branches, each one with a support deadline attached, and none of it visible to a customer. That is the budget klink.cloud is asking you to compare against, not the licence line.

Can klink.cloud run inside our own environment the way Aura does?

Yes. klink.cloud deploys as private cloud or fully on premise, so recordings, transcripts and customer data stay inside your infrastructure and inside your jurisdiction. That is the requirement that usually keeps a bank on hardware, and it is met without hardware: there is no media gateway, no supervisor board vintage and no firmware calendar, because the platform is software you upgrade in place.

What happens to our SIP trunks, our numbers and our IVR?

The trunks and the numbers stay. klink.cloud connects to your existing carrier over SIP, so a migration does not start with a numbering project or a regulatory filing, and both platforms can run side by side while queues move across one at a time. Call queues, recording and full CDR with ring, queue and talk time are standard rather than a module.

We have years of reporting and process built on CMS. Do we lose it?

You lose the tooling, not the discipline. Every interaction becomes a case with an ID, a queue, first response and resolution times, hold and wrap up time, disposition, tags, sentiment and CSAT, and every table exports to CSV or XLSX. A supervisor used to Avaya reporting will recognise the measures. What changes is that voice and WhatsApp are in the same report rather than in two systems that never reconcile.

How does the AI agent compare?

Kai is included on every plan rather than quoted separately, so it can take balance queries, card blocks, KYC status and appointment booking across the whole floor without a budget conversation each time, and it hands over to a person the moment it should not decide alone. Avaya publishes no price for AI on Infinity, so a like for like comparison is not possible from public information, which is itself part of the answer.

Where is Avaya stronger?

Telephony depth and scale. Twenty years of call routing, vector programming, hardware grade voice, JITC certification for federal environments and a partner network in every country. If you run twenty thousand agents across a dozen subsidiaries with an in house Avaya team, that machinery is worth what it costs. This page is for the bank running a few hundred agents in one or two markets, where most of the estate exists to keep the estate running.
